For fifteen years we – Nancy & Pat – had our own sandwich bar in Antwerp, Belgium. At the same time, we bought a property with two farmhouses in Castell de Castells a couple of years ago. A really quiet location, just beyond the valley of Jalón, not far from the sea and barely a half hour away from the popular Calpe. During these first years we rented a few guest rooms in this bed & breakfast which we named Casa Surplace, where Patrick commuted from Belgium to Spain and back to give the guests a perfect stay. Our son Tosh is a professional cyclist and often came to stay here as well to train on these hilly Spanish roads. Since a few years he moved over with his family where he now lives only five minutes from our Casa Surplace. To be closer to Tosh and his family, we took the final decision in 2019 to move to Spain as well, to sell our sandwich bar Bizzoe in Belgium and to fully operate our bed & breakfast Casa Surplace.
